the inkblot project is a reverse-rorschach. it begins with a conversation. each of these tufted works is the result of a one-on-one chat with artist Tori Wheeler, where individuals shared big ideas and big feelings, some abstract, some nameable. they talked about their dreams and desires, sharing stories of serendipity and big realizations. Wheeler then distilled these personal conversations into reflected symbols, tufted into textile works.

the inkblot project captures a reflection on this very moment in time. it feels like a stanza, a generator hum, two maraschino cherries in a whiskey sour, but soft.

Wheeler is interested in approaching creativity intuitively and intimately. collaboration and co-abstraction is essential to discovering unconscious intent.
